Race Vet at mushing race

Good evening all!!

What a weekend!!! I was excited to be a race veterinarian at a mushing race for the organisation Gausdal maraton, which is held every year and have five different classes and over 140 participants.

My job was to be there from Friday to Sunday, and to make sure that all the dogs and the participants had the requirements to race, making sure that all the dogs were fit to race, and that during the checkpoints that the dogs did not have any injuries, and to make sure that the musher received the help that they needed from the veterinarian. it was certainly a very long weekend being awake over 35 hours and running back-and-forth, making sure everything covered. With that said, I am truly satisfied with experience, and I met many nice people during my weekend.

Even though it was hard work, I would think I would do it again. But I am now looking forward to taking part in races myself. ☺️

If you have any questions of what races I will competing I will be writing about it later on, and if not, just ask me or if you have any questions about being a race vet just reach out to me.

Take care everyone!! A mushing story by Norse Quest
